Specifying socket screws
Socket screws use an internal hex drive for high torque in confined spaces. PTS stocks the full range — cap, countersunk, button, shoulder and grub — in A2 (304) and A4 (316) stainless, from M1.6 upwards.
Socket cap screws (DIN 912) are the workhorse where a compact head and high clamping force matter; countersunk (DIN 7991) and button (ISO 7380) heads trade strength for flush or low-profile finishes. Grades A2-70 and A4-80 cover most duties — the suffix is the tensile class, so A4-80 gives 316 corrosion resistance at higher strength. Check drive engagement on small sizes: a worn key ruins a stainless socket head quickly.
PTS stocks socket screws from M1.6 up, in A2, A4 and high-strength BUMAX® grades, with 3.1 certification and PMI testing available per batch. Ordered by 4:30pm, dispatched the same day.
