Choosing the right stainless nut
Most metric applications are served by DIN 934 hexagon full nuts in A2 (304) stainless; step up to A4 (316) where chloride exposure — marine, coastal, chemical — makes pitting a risk. Thin (DIN 439) nuts suit jam and adjustment duties, Nyloc (DIN 985) and all-metal locking styles resist vibration, and flange nuts spread load without a washer. If you're matching an existing assembly, the part number or standard on the drawing is the fastest route — search it directly.
