Getting washers right
Washers distribute load, protect the surface under a fastener and keep a joint from loosening. PTS holds plain washers to DIN 125, spring washers to DIN 127 and precision shim washers, in A2 (304) and A4 (316), all from UK stock.
Form A (DIN 125) flat washers are the metric default; Form B and repair washers give larger bearing surfaces on soft or slotted materials. Spring, Nord-Lock® wedge-locking and serrated washers each solve a different loosening problem — if your joint sees vibration, the locking method matters more than the washer's finish. A2 suits most environments; specify A4 (316) for marine or chemical service.
